Moore Earns Two Key Republican Endorsements from Placer County Supervisors

Press Release

In a move unprecedented in recent political history, four members of the Placer County Board of Supervisors representing the three largest voter designations have joined together to support the candidacy of Art Moore for Congress. Moore, a graduate of Placer High School and Roseville resident, was honored by the news.

"Placer County is one of the best managed counties in California. The fiscally prudent path that our locally elected county supervisors have put us on should be a model for our state and federal governments that spend too much, waste too much and then raise taxes to make up for it," said Moore. "In spite of their political diversity, the Placer County Board of Supervisors time and again puts partisanship aside in accomplishing the work of running our county for all of our citizens. I hope to take that example with me to Washington."

Current Board Vice Chairman Kirk Uhler, widely regarded as the most conservative member of the Board, commented on the need to have a representative who can work with others for the benefit of their district. "Having spent 14 years in the military and several more as a private-sector businessman, Art has witnessed firsthand the waste in government and the burdensome over-regulation that stifles business. While he works to rein in spending and cut red tape, Art will also build relationships with other Members and the federal agencies to the benefit of Placer County."

Robert Weygandt, the Board's longest serving member, believes Art's lifelong connection to the district will serve Placer County residents well. "Too many members of Congress act like Washington's ambassador to their district, not a representative of the people who elected them. I'm confident that Art will be able to translate his deep, personal connection to our district into action that benefits us all."

Jim Holmes praised Art's service to others above self. "I think it is fantastic that a young man who has committed much of his life to defending our country wants to continue his service by representing us in Congress. I know he will strive to represent all of the residents of the 4th Congressional District."

Jennifer Montgomery was impressed with Art's grasp of the forest and watershed issues facing the 4th District. "From the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency to the Army Corp of Engineers, to the US Forest Service, and to well-meaning conservation groups and the timber industry, our area has so many challenges associated with appropriate resource management. I believe Art will rely on science based data and decision-making when charting a course."

Uhler and Weygandt join other prominent Republicans former Governor Pete Wilson and former Congressman George Radanovich in their support of Moore.

A 4th District resident, Art graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and has a combined 14 years of Active Duty and National Guard service including 30 months deployed overseas in support of Operations Iraqi and Enduring Freedom. He is a combat veteran and Bronze Star recipient, and is currently a Major in the Army National Guard. In a dual career, which includes eight years as a business executive, Art is currently on leave from Deloitte Consulting where he oversaw cost and efficiency improvements for federal government clients in the U.S. Intelligence Community.
